Pronto a metterti alla prova con esercizi in inglese sulla forma -ing? Se hai già un po’ di esperienza o frequenti delle lezioni di inglese, saprai già che sono almeno tre i casi in cui potresti incontrare dei verbi che terminano in -ing:
- nel present, past o future continuous (come ad esempio, I am speaking English)
- come soggetti, oggetti o complementi di una frase (come ad esempio, Driving is dangerous)
- in combinazione con alcuni verbi e preposizioni (come ad esempio, I like eating out)
In tutti e tre i casi, prima di svolgere degli esercizi sulla forma ing in inglese, presta attenzione allo spelling. E, se proprio ti trovi in difficoltà, puoi sbirciare le risposte in fondo all’articolo…
Esercizi sulla forma ing in inglese: un recap grammaticale
Se il verbo di partenza termina con Consonante + Vocale + Consonante (CVC), allora dovrai solo raddoppiare l’ultima lettera prima di aggiungere -ing:
- travel – travelling
- sit – sitting
Se invece il verbo finisce con -e, ricorda di togliere questa lettera prima di aggiungere -ing:
- drink – drinking (basta aggiungere -ing)
- live – living (tolgo -e e poi aggiungo -ing)
NB: solo nel caso di verbi in -ie (come in lie) dobbiamo usare -ying, dunque lying.

Part D: Mixed Sentences
